The Bouncy Jumping Game - In The Night Garden Book.
In The night Garden is a children's television programme that is made by the people who made the Teletubbies. It is becoming just as popular and there is far more merchandise related to this programme that I believe there was the Teletubbies. This board book is just one of dozens and dozens of books that are available relating to this programme.
This book is mainly about one character and that is Igglepiggle. He is probably the main character in the programme and he is well loved by everyone. His blue fleecy body makes you just want to give him a big cuddle!!! His favourite thing in the whole wide world is his red security blanket that never leaves his side. He is pictured on the front of this book holding his blanket and appearing to be in mid jump.
The stories of these kinds of books are pretty simple as they are for small children thus making them easy to follow or even to read out on their own (not that Jack has even said his first word yet but I can still try). The story of this book however is following Igglepiggle through the Night Garden and seeing all of his friends from the garden jumping. First we meet Igglepiggle who loves to jump, we then see that Upsy Daisy is jumping too. Igglepiggle and Upsy Daisy jump together. The other characters that are mentioned are the three Tombliboos, Makka Pakka, the great big Haahoos and even the teeny tiny Pontipines join in with all the jumping.
This book is great because you are able to see all the familiar faces of the characters from In The Night Garden and see how there names are spelt and because at the bottom of each page there is a speech bubble giving a few word that the characters are likely to say, you are able to relate the characters with their dialogue. It really is a good book.
The book has 16 lovely chunky board pages each easy to turn and covered in bold bright colours which make it eye catching and attention holding for little ones. As with most of the books from his programme the pictures inside are photographs rather than drawings but these are all wonderfully and expertly done so that they just look like freeze frames from the actual programme.
It being a board book makes it easy to clean and hard wearing. The story may be simple but this is all that is needed to please the age group that these books are aimed at. It cost me less than the RRP, as there were a 3 for 2 offers on in Waterstone's but the recommended price to sell is for £3.99 pence and even at that price I certainly would recommend this book to anyone with children of this sort of age. Because they are hard wearing I believe they will last a very long time and could even be sold on or kept for the next child.
All in all these books are great especially this one. Simple story but great colours and lovely bold print. Worth every penny and there are many more hours of enjoyment to be had from this book.
10/10 for another wonderful board book from the In The Night Garden series.
I hope this has been of some help to you, thanks for taking the time to read.
