Advantages: Different; funny
Disadvantages: Not as good as the film
Having just got about half way through Ben Eltons "Inconceivable", I think I can do it justice. So far, it has been great. It is written in an unusual style, or at least, it's the first time i've seen a book written in this style. Rather writting it from a 3rd person view point, it is basically diary enteries from the two main characters. Though, rather than this being split into chapters, it is just one continuous stream of entries. It's not like reading a diary, of course, that's just how it is set out. Though personnaly I haven't found it quite as funny as the film Maybe Baby which is based on the novel, it is as amusing as any book i have read. As far as i'm concerned, everyone who likes comedy books should read it, and if you like Ben Elton, then you should already have a copy.

- 09/07/01 Welcome to Dooyoo, a good first op, although a bit more information about the book would have been useful. I haven't seen Maybe Baby yet, it is coming to Box Office this week, it sounds like it is worth a look though.
I too am a Ben Elton fan, although I haven't read any of his books. Happy Dooyooing. |
