Advantages: Powerful and touching storyline, many interesting characters

Disadvantages: You won't be able to put it down

'Insomnia' is quite simply, breath-taking. I got this book at an Airport in 1998, after hearing of yet more delays. You are immediately absorbed by the book from the very first page, like many of Stephen King's books. Insomnia is the story of a man called Ralph Roberts, who is becoming increasingly aware that his wife is dying. This section of the book is indeed very emotional, where King's character ponders how he will live without his wife, who has an inoperable brain tumor. It as at this time that Ralph suffers sleep deprovation, also known as Insomnia.

Without wanting to give too much of the plot away, let me say that 'Insomnia' is probably the most powerful, unique book that I, at least, have ever read. It raises many interesting and thought provoking ideas about the world then we live in, and what we percieve to be reality. 'Insomnia' is also higly charged with strong language, but this is justified in the context of the situations. And topics such as abortion and rape are also touched on.

If you've got a bit of time on your hands, perhaps going on holiday or even as a bit of bed time reading, this book is highly recommended. Believe me, you will NOT be dissapointed.

Sounds a bit depressing for a holiday read! Good op.
