I took a very long break from reading this series after I finished the, to say the least, turgid effort that was "The Hand of Chaos". Eventually I took a deep breath, clutched a copy of Into the Labyrinth close to my chest, got down on my knees and prayed to the powers that be to forgive me for what I was about to do and to look over my soul - then I began to read the sixth and *gulp* the longest entry in Weis and Hickman's epic Death Gate cycle.
