I took a very long break from reading this series after I finished the, to say the least, turgid effort that was "The Hand of Chaos". Eventually I took a deep breath, clutched a copy of Into the Labyrinth close to my chest, got down on my knees and prayed to the powers that be to forgive me for what I was about to do and to look over my soul - then I began to read the sixth and *gulp* the longest entry in Weis and Hickman's epic Death Gate cycle. Two days later and the book drops from my hand, my heart is palpitating, I'm sweating. my eyes are bleary eyed and I collapse from sleeplessness.
