Elmer's Colours - David McKee
by i_am_joy - written on 27/08/08 (Very useful, 86 readings)
Rating:
I'd never heard of Elmer until my neighbour gave me a bag of books for my 14 month old granddaughter, but she loves this book so much that I've since done some research and found he is actually a very popular little elephant! Elmer is a bright colourful patchwork elephant and my granddaughter absolutely loves him. Elmer looks fantastic, he is a typical cartoon elephant that babies and young children will instantly warm to but it's the patchwork which really catches my granddaughters eye because the colours are so bright and they all clash wonderfully! In this Elmer book the aim is to help teach young children their colours. The first page is devoted to a rainbow of ...

*Background* Most of you will know by now that we re big fans of Elmer in our household and have read most of David McKee s series of books about this colourful patchwork elephant. I have managed to write quite a few different reviews on here about this lovely character. There is the odd occasion though when we come across a different one in the library and this is what happened here. *The Story* The elephants in the jungle are a bit cold today so when Elmer suggests that they go for a walk to warm themselves up, they all agree that it s an excellent idea. They soon get very high up and the elephants are amazed to see snow. They haven t seen it before but have heard ...

Elmer in the snow Another story about the well known and well loved patchwork elephant, Elmer. ~~Story and Illustrations~~ Elmer is wandering amongst his friends who look quite unhappy, and when he questions them as to why they are sad they say it's because they are cold. With this cold spell of weather we are having right now, children are keen to talk about whether they like to be cold or not. Elmer suggests the elephants just need a walk and we see them taking a walk through the colourful and very warm looking jungle. They are soon warm but Elmer makes them keep walking. They notice that the trees are different, as do children, who realise that they are ...

It is a true, no - holds barred account of one man's life as a royal bodyguard
It is yet another book about Diana
Ocean of Lard - Carlton Mellick III
An amusing, accurate and fond parody of Choose Your Own Adventure books.
Inconsistency between the two writers, and a little excessive.
The Sandman: Brief Lives - Neil Gaiman
Draws old plot threads to a close, greater focus on the other Endless.
Tedious length, pointless distractions, irritating inconsistencies and some bad jokes.
My Manchester United Years - Bobby Charlton
absorbing read

The Hanging in the Hotel - Simon Brett
easy to read
ending was a bit disappointing.
