Struggled to read half of the book. Was so disappointed I went to the internet to see if I was missing something. Found your execellent review and was glad to find someone who agreed with me. Cornwell should go back to her area of expertise and leave comedy to Woody Allen. The characters are contrived, situations unreal and dialog wooden. The plot wonders aimlessly. Patricia Cornwell is best known for her crime fiction featuring Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Kay Scarpetta. These medical thrillers, for want of a better term, turned her into one of the world’s top selling fiction writers and guaranteed a place for her on the top of the best sellers list which each new novel. However, for reasons best known to herself, Cornwell has opted to turn her back on the Scarpetta novels and follow a different set of stories instead...far, far weaker ones.
