Advantages: Interesting and innovating, Brook's characters are very fantastic

Disadvantages: I found no one!

After some years Terry Brooks return in the fabulous world of Shannara with a new enthralling story. This is the tird series of Shannara. After the first (three books connected among them only by the Druid Allanon and the Omsford) and the second (a four a story of four books in which protagonist are the heir of the Omsford) Brooks wrote the story of the elven King Shannara.

Now This series of three books is the travel of the Jerle Shannara (a flying ship) that try to reach an unknown country after the sea in which there would be a fantastic magic remaining of the old world. The flying ships were invented 30 years before and uses the energy of the sun to fly and move.
Walker is the leader of the expedition and he hope to use this magic to found the new Paranor Council. On his way there is a strong enemy: the Ilse Witch, who hate enormously Walker and wants to reach two targets: find the magic for herself and kill walker. We don’t know who is the Ilse Witch, and it is one of the most interesting feature of the book. I don’t want to tell you more about the plot because I could ruin your reading of the book.

Very important is to underline what I think can make you interessed about this book more than the plot. You know that this is only the first book of a trilogy, so it’s difficult to review only this first part. Anyway I think that this new trilogy seems to be very interesting. First of all Brooks is able, like ever he do, to describes all the principal characters (and the secondary to) in a perfect way that make you understand very well their actions and their feelings. This is very important because so you are more inside of the story. Moreover if there are many link with the old story of Shannara (I mean the Druid, the Sword of Lea, the Omsfords and so on) on the other hand he presents many new features. I cannot tell you the most of them because it wuold be bad knowing them before reading. Anyway I can say that the most i
mportant change, for me, is the character of the Druid. I mean that Walker is very different from Allanon. He know that, for many things, it would be better to don’t tell the truth or even lie, but he hates this way the “way of the Druids” as he say. So he is doubtful in his doing, many different from Allanon that was ever sure.

This book is on one hand linked with the other of Shannara series, so if you loved them can find one other time the old features of Shannara books, on the other hand this story and its development is very different from the pars books. Finally I can say that this first book introduce this new trilogy in a very good way and I really advise you to read it!

Ci credi che avevo sempre pensato che il nome fosse Ilse? Incredibile...

Well done, but spaces between the paragraphs for me too. My eyes are even more aged than Jill's!

Sue :)
