As an avid rugby fan I have recently read 3 autobiographies , Dallaglio's, Martin Johnson's and Jonny Wilkinson's. For me Dallaglio's was the bes read by some distance. Looks ===== The cover of this book features a closeup of Lawrence in the rain playing for Wasps issuing a rallying cry to the troops. I think this captures the man perfectly and this view is further enhanced by reading the book. The back cover is a great shot of Dallaglio picking up from the back of the scrum for England vs New Zealand. Format ====== The book starts right at the beginning of Dallaglio's life and chronicles his rugby career from the ... Read the complete review

I come from a rugby mad family so have grown up knowing more rugby players than footballers. When my brother got the book i thought it would be interesting to read about the way he climbed his way up to the top.
This book is fascinating, reading the struggles he had to get through to reach the top. Reading about his sister was heartbreaking and made me understand what gave him the drive to carry on. It was interesting to hear how he had to choose which nationality to compete for.
I strongly recommend this book to anyone, not only rugby fans. The book gives you a real insight into the world of rugby during the turn from amateur to professional.
One of the most insightful and compelling sport autobiographies i have read.

But I've always respected the man, and his passion and dedication to his sport, as well as his club, Wasps, has always impressed me. He's the kind of guy who gives it everything he's got, and while on the pitch, he looks like he's about to take on the opposition single-handedly, he's always struck me as intelligent and measured off the pitch. So I asked my Dad to get me a copy of his autobiography a while back for Christmas. I wasn't disappointed. It turns out I hardly knew anything about the man. I didn't know, for example that he'd been in a supposed sting operation by ... Read the complete review
