Noisy - Shirley Hughes

Premium Review A noisy child is a happy child? (348 words)
by nicolaxx74 - written on 22/10/08 (Very useful, 76 readings)
Rating:

Noisy by Shirley Hughes is part of the Nursery Collection a series of books about the same character. My son chose this book from the library, or should I say I chose it for him, I felt that the title was quite apt (as would many parents of young children). This book is about different noises - no surprise there then. It starts off with the sister and baby brother making lots of noise, plates smashing, drums banging, dog barking; and teh children are really enjoying themselves. As you read on the noises get quieter, with rain splishing, dry leaves swishing, lazy cat softly purring until it gets to bedtime when all is quiet and the children are fast asleep. Most of ...

Two Shoes, New Shoes - Shirley Hughes

Premium Review All bout clothes (175 words)
by nicolaxx74 - written on 12/10/08 (Useful, 76 readings)
Rating:

I got this book from the library having spotted it by chance the day my son had his second pair of new shoes after finally outgrowing his first pair. I thought the title seemed appropriate and Shireley Hughes the author is very well known. The book is actually a poem about all different types of clothing, new shoes, different hats for different occasions, gloves and socks, different length of dress, and finally getting into the bath with nothing at all on. The rhyme takes you through the poem in an upbeat fashion, and there is an illustration for each new item of clothing. There are many themes for this book, new and old, long and short, clothing for various ...
