Jamie's Ministry of Food: Anyone Can Learn to Cook in 24 Hours - Jamie Oliver
Advantages: cheap, easy to use, simple and uses every day items
Upon receiving this book as a christmas present I was eager have a good look! I had previously been put of with fancy cook books and fancy chef's. Jamie is totally up my street, I had watched the series and therefore knew that the recipes would be simple and most importantly not too expensive.
The book itself is broken down into sections, these include, pastas, quick meals and desserts (any many more ofcourse), most pages have pictures on for people like me who like to make it look fancy as the chef's do!! haha
I have now tried most of the recipes in this book and both me and my other half are completely obsessed.
My partner could not cook for toffee before he started reading this book and now I cannot get him out of the kitchen. This book also includes information about what you should keep in your food cupboard, i.e. tinned tomatoes - they are a must for this cook book!!! All of the recipes in this book are really tasty, with little effort and more importantly, litle cost! - they seem to fill you up to and you don't seem to want that late night snack lol.
Jamie uses everyday items i.e. onions, carrots, potatoes, chilli, garlic and herbs and spices. Once you have got your basic ingredients in your shopping bill will reduce massivley. In the past I have been known to spend over 100 pounds on shopping and this week I have only spent 46!!! It really is true that it is cheaper to cook properly.
Must try recipe's are : Mega chocolate fudge cake, my sweet and sour pork, minced beef wellington... not to mention the rest!
Do yourself a favour and get this book! its a must have!
Summary: A fab cook book for beginners!
