I received Jamie Oliver's 'Ministry of Food' as a Christmas present and I absolutely love it. I like to cook and have a few cookbooks but I find that I hardly ever use them as the recipes aren't 'down to earth' enough or they use a million different ingredients.

No way, not with this book. The recipes are fantastic and soooo easy to follow. Seriously anyone really can learn to cook in 24 hours. There are basic recipes for things like spaghetti bolagnase, casseroles, stir frys, cakes, biscuits, pancakes, curries, anything! And I like the fact that yes, he shows you a basic way to make something but then shows you how you can go up a level and make it more from scratch - i.e. in his curries section he tells you to make them with paste but then includes an extra bit where he tells you how to make your own curry paste when you get a bit more experienced.

What I think suprised me the most about this book is that I actually read it from cover to cover as if it was an actual story book. I really did enjoy it that much.
