Advantages: Wicked recipes and great photos

Disadvantages: Nothing

The idea of this book was as a follow on to a television series Jamie Oliver presented on Channel 4, he bemoaned the fact that too many people in this country rely on junk food and don't know how to cook simple low cost meals with much better nutritional values.

The book itself is a real godsend for me, rather than having fancy recipes which I page turn before i've read through the ridiculous range of ingredients. I loved the recipes in this book, there are sections on simple curries, shepherds pies, how to make your own burgers, sausage and mash, nice variations on chinese food, the options are superb.

The ingredients are cheap to buy and the recipes easy to follow, there are hundreds of simple recipes, all look amazing and taste amazing too.

I have made my own burgers from the recipes here, made my own sauces, created simple vegetable dishes and simple curries, i'm well chuffed and feel much more confident, i'm going to keep this book as when I have kids I think its the easiest cook book to understand i've ever seen. It really is brilliant, the desserts are great too and all are simple and lovely.

Jamie Oliver seems passionate about what he wants to do and I am really full of respect for him and think this is a brilliant book.

The book is well presented with great photos being honest the stories I read of non-cooks who learnt through this meant nothing to me as I simply wanted to know about the food.

I bought my book at Tescos for £10 and think it was fantastic value as it will last me for years and save me money on fancy ingredients. Thoroughly recommended.
