This really is a fantastic book. Unpretentious, real, enjoyable recipes.

There's something for everyone, from spicy curries to traditional roasts. Everything is explained in detail and there's loads of pictures to help you follow the recipe which I personally find very useful.

I like the fact that he's used affordable ingredients too. There's a whole section dedicated to mince!

The recipes really are nice too. The meatballs are to die for - I've made them again and again. The curries are great and once you've got all the ingredients you can make them a regular part of your meal plan. There's also a really good section on casseroles and what alcohol and herbs to cook with different meats.

I think it's a great book to give someone the confidence to learn more about food and eventually get creative on their own, which I suppose is what Jamie had in mind.

If you are looking to buy a cookbook for a beginner/student then I would say this is perfect, although I am neither but still really enjoy it!
