It seems that anybody who has ever met somebody who has a mate in the S.A.S has to write a book about it at the moment. Jihad! is one of those books, written by a bloke called Tom Carew, it tells the story of his involvement with the Mujahideen in Afghanistan during the early eighties and the early stages of the Russian invasion. The book is written in the style of a novel but promoted as non-fiction. My impression of it is that the author has jumped on the current bandwagon to make a fast buck. The description on the dustcover builds up and sensationalises the story far more than it actually is, and it is quite a sensational story. Call me Mr cynical but I ...
