about adoption in the United States, eventually bringing about a new law. Hopefully, the mistakes made in Lisa's life will not be made again. The authoress, Joyce Johnson, is best known as a journalist and novellist and my one complaint about this book would be that on occasions she lapses into somewhat over flowery prose, considering her subject matter. Other than that, the book is well written and compelling - the reader is almost forced to keep turning the pages to uncover the next twist in the case. Sadly, Lisa Steinberg was not the only child to die from Child Abuse in the U.S.A in 1987 - it is estimated that a total of 4000 children died in this way. ...
