Growing up, Judy Blume was one of my favourite authors and even now, as a supposed “adult”, I’ll re-read her childrens books when I’m in a regressive mood. This opinion is going to be in two parts, first some biography, and then some short synopses of my favourite books. Blume grew up in New Jersey, which is indeed the base for many of her stories. She has written a range of books from Freckle Juice, aimed at 6 year olds, to Forever, the teenage bestseller, to her latest book, Summer Sisters, whose audience is mainly adults.
