Probably one of Burroughs' most accessible books, 'Junky' is semi-autobiograghical and an excellant introduction to one of my favourite beats. Charting the protaganists spirally drug abuse and descent into deepest Mexico, 'Junky' provides some amazing insights into addiction and a lifestyle adopted to support and survive it. With an introduction by Allen Ginsberg and an hilariously dated glossary of of 'Jive talk' (including The People - Narcotics agents, Wrong - Term used to describe an informer) 'Junky' is an excellent book and an interesting read. ...
