The Phantom Tollbooth - Norton Juster

Premium Review The Phantom Tollbooth- read and enjoy! (312 words)
by JEHodgson - written on 24/07/00 (Very useful, 97 readings)
Rating:

The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster is one of my favourite books from my childhood. It tells the story of a boy called Milo who is bored- until one day a package arrives. He opens it to find that it contains a tollbooth to strange places... He sets off in his little car to a world populated by characters who seem to originate from many plays on words (or is it the other way round?) and two warring factions, the numbers and the letters. The Phantom Tollbooth - Norton Juster

Premium Review You'll never be bored with a Tollbooth (286 words)
by Alien - written on 13/07/00 (Very useful, 87 readings)
Rating:

Milo is always bored but can't be bothered to do anything. One day he gets home from school to find a mysterious parcel which proves to be a DIY Tollbooth, the sort where you pay to travel on bridges or foreign motorways. Milo pays his money, drives his toy car through, and enters an incredible world of weird characters obsessed by words and numbers. For anyone, young or old, who loves playing with words this book is compulsive and extremely funny. Meet the Tock, the watchdog who thinks killing time is a dreadful crime, travel in the car with no engine (it goes without saying), visit the Island of Conclusions (its easy to get to it because you just have to jump to ...
