It represents the transformation of the 15-year-old virgin, Eugénie, who was brought up by her virtuous mother to become an honest woman. the faint at heart! I purchased this book after watching the brilliant film Quills starring Geoffrey Rush, which is based on the life and works of the Marquis De Sade. The film however doesn t show anywhere near how depraved his writings were. The book is translated (from French) very well and is easy to read, and if you can put the disturbing content aside, and read it as a comedy (his books were entertainment in his day, when sexual freedom was frowned upon) or as an insight to the sexually depraved mind, it s an enjoyable read. The book contains all the Marquis most infamous works, all with Libertines, sex, rape and torture as the main subject. The books ...
