**The Story**
When you come from such a broken down family it seems only natural that you will end up going in the same direction. When kaitlyn is very young she is seperated from her beloved brother and spends her whole life wishing she had done more. She turns to the people on her estate for help who only end up leading her in the wrong direction. Kaitlyn soon realises that she needs to look after number one and quickly finds ways to look after herself and to fund her mothers serious drug habbit. Kaitlyns own drug trafficing 'empire' soon grows and when her mother dies of a drug overdose she seeks revenge only to land heself in all sorts of trouble. Up against one of the newest lawyers in town she soon realises that she has seen this man before, but is it too late to rekindle her relationship with her brother?

**What I think**
I have never read such a fantastic book. I was completely gripped from the first page and whilst on holiday I spent more time reading than I did swimmings and sunbathing. I was apprehenive at first as I had never heard of Kevin Lewis but it had come highly recommended so I gave it a go and I am so glad I did. I have since recommended this to many other people and now I am recommending it to you!

**The writer**
Kevin lewis is the bestselling author of the kid and the kid moves on, two books based upon his life. Since writing his first two books he went on to write Kaitlyn which is his greatest achievement yet (in my personal opinion). Born in 1970 Kevin grew up on the council estates in South East London and his tough life here is reflected in all his novels, hence making them seem very real. kaitlyn is very fast paced, the style of writing is simply incredible and the way he draws you in from the first line is really a testament to his writing abiltys. The way he keeps you there is just an extra bonus you get with this writer. He has a way of making you feel asthough you are there with the character and in some instantces I had to read the paragraphs over and over because I was so gripped by his words.

**Who the book is for**
I would say this book is for anyone who likes a novel full of crime. NOT for children though as there is foul language throughout. Men and women alike would love this book. Women could really relate to kaitlyns feelings and men would just love the storyline.

**The conclusion**
This book is a must read for anyone who likes a well written book with a gripping storyline. I still have not gotten over this book and tell everyone about it even though I read it nearly two years ago. When I get some time I will definately read it again and I know I will not be bored. You never know what is coming next and the unpredictability is what keeps you gripped throughout the book. Kevin Lewis has done a fantastic job with this and you can see that some of his own experiences have been reflected in this gripping tale. Please go out and buy it!!
