KEANE is the title of former Manchester United and Ireland central midfielder ROY KEANE's autobiography. The book starts with keane's childhood growing up in Cork, Ireland where he was one of five children. He admits that school wasn't for him and that football was the thing he loved doing. Keane played for a few Irish clubs before a scout from Nottingham Forest picked him up. Keane's childhood is exactly how you would imagine with him being naughty and with football being his only love. His time at Nottingham Forest was most noteable for his relationship with legendary manager Brian Clough. Keane massively respected Clough and their relationship ... Read the complete review

I have to admit that when my beloved Ipswich Town FC appointed Roy Keane as manger a couple of months ago I was a little sceptical. Most of what I knew about Roy came from the press and news coverage, most of it negative, which seemed to follow him around. Determined to give the latest bastion of the Ipswich hot seat a fair crack of the whip I set about finding out a little more about the man behind the hype and headlines. My Brother recommended his autobiography which he'd penned in 2002 with the help of journalist Eamon Dunphy, so I gave it a read. What's In The Book ************************** Highlighted at the very start of the book, Keane gives us a look behind the scenes of all that went on in the run up to Ireland's World Cup 2002 fiasco, in which Keane ... Considering the fact that Keane has past his prime as a player and Ireland, who ended up in the toughest group, might fail to qualify for Germany 2006, 2002 was a missed opportunity. Keane should have stuck with the team. That's right, when you read what went on behind the scenes in this book, it makes you feel sorry for Keane. He might well be made a scapegoat by Mick McCarthy who disliked Keane. True, the state of the training conditions for their World Cup preperations in Saipan was awful. Still, fact remains, though, that Captain of the squad deserted his men, who were putting up with the awful condition, before the battle began. He say he was left with no ... Read the complete review
