It makes the whole idea of keeping chickens easy and fun, don't get me wrong I love my chooks to bits but I was not prepared for all the possible problems that come with keeping chickens. No mention of sour crop, impacted crop, egg bound problems, it did mention that chickens get colds but doesn't add that a cold can mean a much more serious and life threatening problem. After many years of saying that I wanted to keep chickens I found this book in a well known bookstore, over priced at £10, I was annoyed when I found it online a lot cheaper. Anyway the book was very easy to read, going through all the basic chicken keeping *skills* making it look a doddle. From chicken anatomy, learning how the egg is made, feeding, and handling, not much in the way of what can go wrong though. Anyway I now have 4 chickens in my back garden and I can honestly say that this book taught me nothing. When my fiancé and me decided to get pet chickens at the start of the year we felt a bit clueless where to start. So I scoured amazon and found this book that promised to reveal all we needed to know for £4.79 which seemed a bargain. The book is hardcover with glossy photos of various breeds of chickens throughout. There are handy hints (snippets of information like how to keep your chickens entertained if they are kept in a run most of the day) on the side of each page. The sections cover everything from basic chicken anatomy to preparing your garden and how to handle a chicken.
