Advantages: Lots of information, funny photos of chickens and hippiesh men

Disadvantages: Blatant eglu advert in the middle

When my fiancé and me decided to get pet chickens at the start of the year we felt a bit clueless where to start. So I scoured amazon and found this book that promised to reveal all we needed to know for £4.79 which seemed a bargain.

The book is hardcover with glossy photos of various breeds of chickens throughout. There are handy hints (snippets of information like how to keep your chickens entertained if they are kept in a run most of the day) on the side of each page. The sections cover everything from basic chicken anatomy to preparing your garden and how to handle a chicken. At 64 pages this is not overly detailed but I have discovered since we got Cagney & Lacey that it doesn't need to be.

One of the authors - Johannes Paul - is a co founder of Omlet who sell the plastic eglus (chicken houses) with chickens so there is a section trying to encourage you to buy and eglu but apart from that it's a very useful little reference book.

Cagney and Lacey are two very happy ladies and I feel the information I discovered in this book has contributed to that hugely.

I feel you could add an awful lot more about the content, layout and writing style of the book. Please message me if you update it and I'll happily change my rating. A shame, as this sounded like it was going to be a slightly more detailed review!
