Kid's Kitchen - Jennifer Low ... health professionals and educators at the moment about children's ignorance of basic foods and simply cooking techniques. We know that children love to cook given the chance but today there is next to no hands on cooking being taught in most schools. So it's no wonder there is a problem. That's why Jennifer Low has created this book of over 100 no-knives, no-flame, from-scratch recipes that kids can really make. All the dishes have been tested by kids, from tots to teens, and each one is beautifully photographed. Most recipes use measuring jugs and measuring spoons for ingredients so they are simple to prepare and where cooking is involved, they use ovens and microwaves so there are no naked flames to cook over. Recipes cover Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and more besides including Chicken in Crunchy Coats and Wee Shepherd's Pies to Baby Lemon Meringue Pies and Blueberry Muffins. Jennifer shows how to organize a safe and fun kitchen for kids to learn and explore their culinary curiosity.

The recipes are of the right difficulty level, age 4-11 is the recommended age and this is the age all the recipes have been tested with, however much younger children can access the recipes to...more

In our house you can judge the usefulness of a recipe book by quite how food splattered the pages are, and this book, which we have had for over a year now has certainly got a few battle scars. "Kids Kitchen" is quite simply an excellent recipe book, the blurb on the cover sums it up perfectly "100 yummy no-knives, heat-safe recipes that children can really make". It was written by a mum of two and all the recipes have been fully tested by children and their families. Much has been made of the need to educate kids into the art of cooking in the fight against obesity, and added to that with the right recipe cooking with your ...  Read the complete review

Both my small daughters are very keen to get out there in the kitchen and help Mummy or Daddy with cooking so I am always on the look out for interesting cookery books which are aimed at children. I discovered this one - Kid's Kitchen' - through The Book People and it's a great one for encouraging children to want to cook and provides ideas for interesting meals which children should enjoy. Also, with all the ready meal options available, I think it's also important to share the skills of cooking with our children otherwise it is in danger of becoming a dying art! Kid's Kitchen has a very enticing front cover with a small cook holding a very tempting iced cup ...  Read the complete review
