A quick overview of the play: Richard has various physical defects and is not in line for the throne. After a few military efforts, some assasination, bumping off the young princes whose guardian he is supposed to be, Richard grasps the throne. He also marries the wife of one of the men he murdered and after her death starts trying to marry his niece, before there is a very large battle and he is killed. Richard The Third is part of a long series of history plays, beginng with Richard the second, then Henry the fourth, Henry the fifth, Henry the Sixth and Richard himself.
