Kirsty MacColl died tragically on the 18th December 2000 aged just 41 years old. She left behind two teenage sons, but she also left behind a musical legacy far greater than many people realise. "Fairytale of New York" her collaboration with Irish folkband/drunkards, The Pogues had cemented the singers name in many people's minds and this song is now as familiar at Christmastime as Slade's "Merry Xmas Everybody" but anyone that cares to delve a little bit deeper into the life of Kirsty MacColl will quickly discover that there was a great deal more to this woman than a one hit wonder.
