Advantages: Real Purpose To The Story

Disadvantages: The Wait For The Next Book

Well this is going to be my last review on these books, for a while anyway. Knife of dreams is the eleventh book in the Wheel of time series by fantasy writer Robert Jordan. Originally this was supposed to be a twelve book series however after publishing this book Jordan's health failed and he died. A very sad time for his family and all his fans.

So what would become of the end of the series, well its recently come out that his son along with a few other people have taken on the responsibility of finsihing the series. Jordan did do some writing and left many notes on what the final book (a memory of light) would contain. Although there was so much to put in the book that it is now coming out in three volumes over the next few years. So I think am going to wait until all three are complete before I start reading them.

Anyway this book came out in October 2005. As would be expected it was another massive hit for Jordan, the previous book had been a bit of a let down so fans were hoping to get something a bit special for Jordan to redeem himself somewhat.

As is usually the case there are lots of different threads of story in this book. However this time many of these threads of sown up in the story. We have Elayne who finally gains control of Andor. Egwene has been captured by the sisters in the White tower but is now working from the inside to bring down the rebel Elaida.

Mat and Tuons relationship turns even more interesting as they near the edge of the Seanchan controlled lands. Perrin continues his battle with the mighty Shaido Aiel still trying to rescue his wife Faile.

Rand meanwhile is off battling with yet more members of the foresaken. he notices some serious problems in the world though, known as ripples in the fabric of creation. This can point to only one thing, the final battle!

This book is so much better than the last. It suddenly feels like Jordan has found his spirit again, the story is heading in a specific direction and all the little bits of storylines are converging to that final show down.

This book really got me excited. Jordan build anticipation for the final battle and really gets you back involved with the story. I read this book really quickly as I found it so exciting, there was so much going on and the story really moves at an exceptional pace.

Jordan has always been great at describing events, making his world come to life for us and getting us emotionally involved with the characters. This book is no exception, we are really living the story by this point and are eager to find out what is going to become of our heros!

Anyone who enjoys these books in the series will I am sure enjoy this book. It's one of the better ones and really shows what Robert jordan is all about. I must mention that you need to have read all the books in the series for this one to make sense, you can't just read the one on it's own or you will be lost am afraid.

The only down side to this book is that iwas not able to continue the story. It's a bit of a sickner when the story builds so well and then you have to pause for a few years to finally reach the end of the story. When those fianl three books are finally published I will be there buying them as soon as possible and finishing this epic tale!!

Summary: An Excellent Way To Finish His Career
