Nicky Epstein is a knitting household name, famous for writing books containing easy to understand patterns for small and not so small projects. This is her book on knitted flowers, a collection of patterns for different types of flowers using a multitude of stitch patterns and techniques. The book was published by Sixth & Spring books with photography by Jennifer Levy. The book itself is laid out quite decoratively but still with clarity: each pattern is given its own spread with photography on the page opposite, pretty and eye-catching enough to be left open on a coffee table in your living room. Although Nicky Epstein is an accomplished knitwear designer I had never come across any of her books until I started searching for some `Barbie doll` knitting patterns so that I could knit some stocking fillers for my niece. Nicky Epstein s work has by all accounts been shown in the Vogue fashion magazine and Nicky herself does occasionally hold exhibitions. The only famous knitwear designer that I had really ever heard of is Kaffe Fasset and I had enjoyed looking at some of his work that was at one time exhibited at the American Museum, Near Bath.
