Advantages: Strong story, thrilling read

Disadvantages: Where next?

Raymond E Feist is obviously a man who likes to plan ahead, when his riftwar saga moved onto the two intermitant titles Prince of the Blood and The Kings Bucanear as well as the later serpant war saga events were referred to that actually take place in this tear of the gods trilogy.

It is also nice to see the return of James who along with Pug is I think one of Feist's richest charecters. The strong detective mind and instincts of the charecter make for entertaing reading.

Back to the book, this is the second part in a trilogy, the first book Betrayal at Krondor is typical fast paced Feist returning to James & Locklear as they investigate some uncanny goings on. The discoveries they make lead to some dark revalations and hint at a plot that points once again to Sethanon.

Assassins is the continuation of that story and gives us the entertaining meeting between James and his brother Lylse the future Upright Man of Krondor. It also picks up the pace of the story and is a fascinating read.

If you have read any of Feists other work this along with its previous Betrayal at Krondor (now available in paperback) and the upcomming Tear of the Gods (available in September) this makes another outstanding trilogy and does not tire out the same saga.
