Advantages: One of the best books I have ever read,, I couldn't put it down!

Disadvantages: None at all.

Wow, this is an amazing book, I had to pick 4 books for an online book group I belong to and this was one someone recommended to me so I thought why not suggest it, then we all voted for the one we wanted to read the most and this book won.

This book starts off in a supermarket where Delia, the main character, is propositioned by a man, Adrian, he wants her to pretend that she is his girlfriend, because his estranged wife is there with her new bloke, she doesn't hesitate for a second - it could make this shopping trip more exciting, was what she was thinking.

Delia has a husband, Sam or Dr. Grinstead, and three teenage children, they all live in her fathers house with her sister. Delia is forever wondering whether they would actually miss her if she wasn't around.

Delia doesn't think much of her life it just goes along quite happily doing the same things all day in day out, one night whilst out taking a walk she meets up with Adrian again and they get closer.

Just before the family annual holiday to the beach, Delia finds out that she has been part of Adrians game to get his wife back but she doesn't seem to care too much. Adrian's mother in-law visits Delia's house and accuses her of steeling her daughters husband, right in front of Delia's family. The family just think that she is a mad woman and don't think that any of it's true- how could it be Delia's not like that.

Then whilst at the beach Sam and Delia have an argument about that night the old woman turned up and this sets Delia off on a walk down the beach on her own.

Well this is the main part of the book she walks off on her own and doesn't return to her family at all infact she goes off and sets up a new life in another town. Her family meanwhile contact the police and then her sister finally catches up with her in her new life.

Its an intriguing read full of what ifs and you begin to feel that if De
lia could leave her family and set up a new life then anyone could.

On the back cover its says that "On a beach holiday, forty year old Cordelia Grinstead, dressed only in a swimsuit and beach robe, walks away from her family and just keeps on walking......"

How anyone could do this was unbelievable to me, how selfish I originally thought but after reading and having the characters come to life you can comprehend why she did it, she just needed time out of her ordinary life.

Now several things happen in her new life and her old one too. So Delia is then unsure as to which direction her life should take next.

I was quite dissappointed with the ending, it wasn't what I wanted to happen but I suppose it was what Delia wanted, deep down. I won't spoil it for you by saying exactly what happens, just that I wanted to carry on reading it even when I knew I should be asleep (I have two little children under 3!).

I would recommend this book to anyone, I bought it from Amazon for quite a low price I think it was £4.99 instead of £6.99 but its been published for more than 5 years now so you shouldn't have any trouble borrowing it from the Library.

Thanks for reading,

Amanda..
