Advantages: uplifting and an easy read.

Disadvantages: -

I remember getting this book free from a magazine when I was about 13 years old, I put off reading it for a while because tbh free books didn't sound good to be. Eventually I read it and I loved it and it began my teenage adoration for Sarah Dessen.

Last Chance is about Colie is a 15 year old girl who has arrived in a town called Colby to spend a summer with her Aunt Mira. Colie has been dumped her by her mother "Kiki Sparks". Colie has low self-esteem and is hiding herself behind her black hair and her newly attained lip piercing. Colie's low self esteem issues is due to her being fat previously, throughout the book Colie recalls the fat days when her and her mother were both fat. Colie was teased at school for this and as a result she never made any friends and never gained confidence.

Tired of being fat Colie's mum decided that they both needed to lose weight and got them both memberships and the gym and soon made a name for herself and they both lost weight. Colie's mum began to become more popular and this escalated to her own fitness programme and the name "Kiki Sparks". Colie felt her relationship with her mother dissappear as her mother had to go away frequently and this is how she comes to stay in Colby with her Aunt who is also fat but is not bothered by this at all.

Colie settles into Colby and gets a job at the cafe Last Chance where she makes friends, falls in love and learns lessons that change her in order for her to boost her confidence. The book has various other characters that make the book all the more interesting and uplifiting.

Summary: a lovely summer story!
