By pure chance, the cover of this book caught my eye in a discount book shop recently. Having always had a keen interest in the Colonial "Zulu" campaigns; I saw immediately the scene at Rourkes Drift & coupled with the price displayed as £4.99, I had to buy it. Whilst by no means extensively detailed enough for thorough Military research, this book does an excellent job of teasing the reader to explore the subject further. The contents open with a short Introduction as to "What is a Last Stand" then dips into the Battle of Thermopylae where the Spartans held ground to the last man led by King Leonidas who at one point ...
