It had been a long time since I read anything by Hammond Innes. I used to read his books regularly during my teenage years, about the same time I was reading works by Alistair MacLean, and Desmond Bagley. Eventually I moved on to other authors, and I thought I had left Hammond Innes behind forever. Last month when I was clearing out a cupboard I came across ‘Solomons Seal’. It was one of the last two Hammond Innes books that I had yet to read and the temptation was just too strong. I settled down to enjoy the book. Solomons Seal did not disappoint me.
