This is a great introductory book to the world of guitar playing and goes through much more advanced steps than most. This is Alfred Max's complete guide to learning to play the guitar and is written by Ron Manus and L.C. Harnsberger. The book comes with a DVD to show you a clearer picture of things and does generally make learning new skills a lot easier. The book promises to teach levels 1 & 2 combined, though it doesn't actually state what these levels have been derived from and could therefore be from recognized qualifications such as Guild Hall or Associated Board.
