I first read a Donna Leon book out of boredom. Having read all other interesting mystery stories from the library (and having a mystery-addicted Grandma), I decided to give them a try. My feelings were a bit mixed. I really loved some things about these books, and there were also things I disliked somewhat. But I really learned to like the series and by now have read most of the Venice - Brunetti series in our library. I really loved the relationship between Commissario Guido Brunetti and his lovely wife Paola, who is a high-brow University teacher of noble descent (with very influential parents who live in a palazzo - ahh!) and yet she cooks him ...
