This is book number seven in the Inspector Rebus series. The book is set in edinburgh as always and starts of with Rebus witnessing two young men jumping off the forth road bridge and embedding themselves in a passing Navy ship. This was after a nerve racking and ultimatley bone shattering police chase through edinburgh. The crime to warrant this the attempted blackmail of the Lord Provosts, as his daughter had went missing. The best start to a Grisham book I have read A few of the twists can seem to be a little far fetched

compelling, entralling, page turner, superbly written, superb plot none for me

easy to read, won't be made into a film slang writing styleterrible anti-climax
