For the majority of us the name C(harles) S(taples) Lewis conjures up the Chronicles of Narnia and witches and wardrobes but there is a much less ‘fairytale’ side to this man and the Screwtape Letters illustrate this quite wonderfully. This book is a series of thirty-one letters; it is not a big book, it actually contains guidance both for the aspiring saint BUT mostly for the aspiring sinner. Of course this is done in the form of the senior telling the junior how to keep them wrong but it isn’t hard therefore to work out a counter action to this downward trend. This book has been a great help to me and I recommend it wholeheartedly. ...
