This isn't the type of book I'd normally read, but I'm glad I did. The novel is fast moving and gets through many generations within a small amount of time. There are many parts of the book where it could end, satisfyingly. But it doesn't and continues another part of a story with a different family member, it may sound tedious, but it works. Some pars are pretty sad and others are uplifting. There is some adult content, but it's not explicit. Definitely suitable for some light reading.

Yvette and Teddy are married during the war. Their children, Margot and Clarissa are born soon after, two years apart. Teddy remains absent for a good part of their early lives, fighting in Korea. Yvette, alone on a beach with two young children, is approached by a photographer who offers to take their photo. “A man with such a beautiful wife will want a remembrance of her”.
