One of my all time favourite books, Margaret Atwood s Lady Oracle skips through decades, countries, boyfriends and occupations of it s leading lady. Born in Canada, she is constantly thriving to express herself throughout life and therefore adopts a number of different roles - the fat kid, the loyal wife, the exciting girlfriend to a Russian count, and a secret, although successful, author of romantic period fiction. This career epitomises her yearning for excitement and romance, and all the delicious emotions that are felt by the heroines she writes about. as an artist with a pen, poetry is a very personal thing and while some may warm to romantic sentimentality others may prefer the more contemporary poets such as Margaret Atwood, Sylvia Plath and another of my personal favourites W.H.Auden. Poetry can often be puzzling, ten of you could read and research the same poem and all draw a very different conclusion as to the meaning or understanding of the written verse.
