I once read that a key to becoming a happier person is finding your comfort food activity. Just what it sounds like - something that instantly cheers you up, without making you pile on the pounds. I found mine, children's books. That and colouring. Yes, I'm 24 now, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy some good children's, or more specifically teenage, literature, and as I would like to write that genre some day I like to call it "research". So one of my favourite shelves in the library is the teenage section, and this is a book I'd been interested to read for a while. I finally found it and was pretty excited to read it. A whole story told through notes left on a refrigerator door? Sounds difficult to do right, if right is even possible, doesn't it? Before reading this I was very sceptical about the idea. I expected this book to be high on the novelty value and sentimentality, and when I picked it up in the library I did so because I thought the style would be interesting if not the content. It's the story of the relationship between a mother and daughter before, during, and after the mother becomes seriously ill - I won't go into more detail or I might spoil it.
