Advantages: Brilliant pictures

Disadvantages: NONE

Now Little Miss Bossy has always been one of those books that just seems to follow me around. Now obviously I don't mean it grows legs and literally follows me to college, round town and to the cinema but the character described in the book does seem to pop up from time to time. When I was younger Little Miss Bossy was a favourite book of mine and being quite a headstrong person at times my mum did take to calling me this now and then. This therefore means that whenever I have one of my bossy moments now the ideas within this story do get thrown across the living room.

I suppose however this highlights how immensely popular and unforgettable these stories are. I mean my mum and dad still remember them clearly after nearly 10 years. To be honest there though I think they're ingrained in their memories due to the massive numbers of times they were forced to read them to me.

Little Miss Bossy is number 1 in the Little Miss collection which now contains 33 individual stories, each written about an individual character. This collection as well as the 46 book Mr Men collection are firm favourites with children due to their interesting tales and firm favourites with parents due to their relatively low £1.99 cost and the amount of joy they see their children getting from them.

Little Miss Bossy is a blue character that is round in shape and has a red and yellow bowler hat on her head with a flower sticking out of it and a wide-open mouth. This picture of her can be seen both on the front cover of the book under her name, which is printed in block, black capitals, and in a smaller form on the reverse of the book along with all the other Little Miss characters. This menagerie of characters along with their names and numbers makes it easy for the reader to decide which book to purchase and read next.

The story begins with Little Miss Bossy going for a walk on Monday and telling Mr Nosey to mind his own business. It then moves to Tuesday when she tells Mr Noisy to shut up and Wednesday when she tells Mr Happy to take that silly smile off his face. On Wednesday however she was spotted by Wilfred the Wizard who went straight home, took a book of the shelf in his library and turned to page 304 "How to stop people being bossy".

The next day when Little Miss Bossy told Mr lazy to walk up Wilfred wasn't far away and whispered a wizardy word he had learned off page 304 but what would that wizardy word do and would Little Miss Bossy ever stop being bossy?

Little Miss Bossy is a great children's story that is quite humorous in places and entertaining throughout. It is written in a format whereby each double page spread has writing on the left hand side and wonderful colourful pictures on the right hands side in order to keep children entertained and ensure that they understand the story. The writing itself is in a decent size font making it relatively easy to read and the structure of the sentences is simple yet not over simplistic making the book brilliant for both confident and less confident readers.

All in all I would highly recommend Little Miss Bossy as a great book to all Little Miss fans as well as though who have yet to jump on the wagon and discover the wonders of their fantastic little world.

Summary: A great story for reading at bedtime
