Advantages: Easy to read story
Disadvantages: Writing possibly a little small
The Little Miss books is a series of 43 books written by Roger Hargreaves and then later his son Adam Hargreaves. They are simple children's stories each telling the tale of a different some-what stereotypical character in each one. In this way the short stories do have a somewhat moral stance to them but are in the same way told in a fun and entertaining way to keep children amused.
Little Miss Fun is number 28 in the Little Miss Series and the front of the book is white with a picture of Little Miss Fun in the centre and her name in black block capitals printed above. Little Miss Fun is a small bouncy looking orange character with a large smile on her face and a blue bow in her hair. The back of the book like the rest in the series has smaller pictures of all the other characters in the series with their names and numbers printed below to enable you to keep track of those you have yet to read.
***THE STORY***
Little Miss fun is as happy as a lark. Except when she is organising a party. And then... she is even happier than a lark. Little Miss Fun loves parties and invites lots and lots of people.
The other Sunday Little Miss Fun had a party and lots of people made their way to her house. She put on music and they danced, although Mr Clumsy did stand on her foot she didn't mind. They continued to dance lots more and then Little Miss Fun decided to see if she could make her friends laugh. Would it work?
****MY THOUGHTS****
Little Miss Fun is another great little read by Roger Hargreaves and takes roughly five minutes to read through making it a perfect bedtime read for your little ones. This book more than some of the others in the series is great for bedtimes because of the somewhat interactive ending, which I won't reveal.
The story is told in simple but not patronising language and the repetition of words and phrases makes it great for those beginning to read independently. The story is told across double page spreads with writing on the left hand side and wonderfully bright and colourful pictures on the left. As this book contains other characters from the Little Miss and Mr Men series the pictures are brilliant as young children can try and spot all of the characters mentioned within the story.
All in all I would thoroughly recommend this book as well as all the others in the Little Miss and Mr Men series as they make a perfect read for a quiet break during the day or a sleepy bedtime read. Whenever and however you choose to read this book I'm sure you and your little ones will love it.
Summary: Brilliant book with fabulous pictures
