My 5-year-old son is very fond of the Mr men and little miss stories. One of our favourites is little miss lucky and the naughty pixies. The Mr men and little miss series are written by Roger Hargreaves. The books cost £2.50 so will not break the bank and there are dozens to collect.

The story.
*********
Little miss lucky is as the title suggests-lucky. When she goes for a walk she always finds £1 lying on the ground and she never gets caught in the rain. However her god luck suddenly changes and things start to go wrong. When walking under a ladder a tin of paints falls on her head. When she is walking down the high street she falls into an open manhole. Little miss lucky can't understand what is happening. However turn the page and you will spot the culprits! The naughty pixies. Little Miss lucky doesn't know it is the pixies who are responsible however, as only the reader knows this. Only when she meets Little Miss wise do things become clear. The book continues with the two little miss characters set about planning how to make the pixies behave themselves.

My thoughts.
***********
I love reading this book as much as my son loves listening to it. The story is not to long and each page is well illustrated. Roger Hargreaves writes in a way that includes the child in the story. I like the way the books include different Mr men or little miss characters from other titles in the series. The books are small and compact making them an idea size to include in a child's flight bag. When we travel any distance I always make a small surprise bag for my children and a small book is a good addition-helps keep them quiet!

All the Mr men and little Miss books have a happy ending, so for me that's another positive! Like most books they can be used as a basis for discussion with your child. The naughty pixies were unkind and made little miss lucky unhappy. From this story you could discuss being kind to each other. These books are not works of literary genius, buta they are fun and easy to read!

Summary: a book in the little miss series
