I don't remember many books from my childhood, but one series of adventures sticks out in my mind... Roger Hargreaves' 'Mr Men' and 'Little Miss' stories. To this day I can still recall a lot of the narrative, and as a young boy, the small, glossy covered books really captured my imagination. Yesterday, my nephew was having 'Little Miss Lucky' read to him, and seemed to be enjoying it... I had to stop myself from wrenching the book off him in order to write a review ;) In terms of their historical context, the 'Little Miss' series of books were written from 1981 onwards - ten years after the original Mr Men books were launched. Little Miss Lucky is the 16th Little Miss book. Roger Hargreaves created the Mr Men in 1971. Ten years later, he created the Little Misses as well, off the back of the success of the Mr Men. They are lovely books, which I enjoyed when I was a kid. My son prefers the Mr Men books as he can relate to them more being a male, but they're still very good. Little Miss Lucky is round and pink, with a cloth hat that is checkered. In the story, you really do wonder why she is called Little Miss Lucky. Little Miss Lucky is number 16 in the Little Miss series written by Roger Hargreaves and later his son Adam. All of the books in the series are written in the same format with writing on the left hand side and bright colourful pictures on the right hand side and this one is no exception. The pictures are great for helping children understand the story being told and help to engage their attention from the start. The front and back of this book also follow the same format as all of the others in the series. The back contains small pictures of all the other Little Miss in the series. This makes it easy to keep track of those left to read. The front of ... Read the complete review

I have read almost all of the Mr Men and little miss books to my little niece and probably enjoyed them as much if not more than she did. One of my favourites was this one (little miss lucky) the name kind of reminded me a bit of myself because I feel like I have been fairly lucky through life (hope I am not tempting fate here). The book is written by Roger Hargreaves and after a phone call to my brother to check I can tell you that it is number 16 in the collection. The book and indeed all the others in the collection too are written in very clear print with all the words appearing on the left hand pages and bright and very eye catching, colourful pictures on ...
