Little Miss Scary is number 31 in the Little Miss Collection. She is a small red character and has spiky hair. She also has a little round yellow nose. The cover of the book is white with a picture of her at the bottom and the title above in black lettering. The back cover of the book is also white and has smaller pictures of the other Little Miss characters.
THE STORY
The book begins by telling us that Little Miss Scary lives near the top of a mountain in a house called Spooky Cottage and when it became dark she would creep into the valley below, making sure that no one would see her and she would hide and wait until somebody came along. When someone did walk pack she would tiptoe behind them and then shout BOO. Little Miss Scary thought this was very funny and enjoyed doing it as she loved to scare people more than anything else in the whole world and she was very good at doing so.
Mr Noisy decided he would go and visit his friend Mr Jelly as he had not seen him for ages. When he arrived at his house he found him hiding under his bed and he was scared as Little Miss Scary was always jumping out at him. Mr Noisy decided that he was going to try and get Little Miss Scary to stop scaring everybody.
Would Little Miss Scary finally learn her lesson or would she continue scaring everyone?
MY OPINION
This is a fun little book in the Little Miss Collection. My boys enjoy listening to how she scares everyone. The story has been written in nice basic words so it is very easy for younger children to follow and the nice bright illustrations also help in the telling of the story. The pictures also help to keep my 3 year old involved in the book.
The book is set out in a nice easy to read way with the writing on plain white pages on the left hand side of the book and the illustrations on the right hand side. The writing is a bit on the small side which is the only downside to this and the other books in the collection as it puts my eldest off from trying to independently read them.
The story is only short and so it can be read in under 5 minutes which makes it an ideal bed time read or a book for if you are short on time, which I find is very often in my house!
