Premium Review The Log - Craig Charles: Worth a read if you liked Red Dwarf. (234 words)

Rating:

The Log by Craig Charles is a fairly solid companion piece to the very popular and critically acclaimed cult sci-fi situation comedy Red Dwarf. It is essentially a small comedy book written by Craig Charles about life on earth, with a few vague and veiled references to the series. He covers topics like Music, Humour, Religion, Transport, Holidays, and just how to live your life in general, exploring such already exhausted topics as Ways to Annoy People, and Things to Do Before You're 30, compiling extensive lists of each, as well as throwing in some lewd and crude genuine anecdotes and promotion Red Dwarf photographs on nice glossy paper. Premium Review A marginally funny cash-in book (285 words)

Rating:

Written by Craig Charles, ie Dave Lister from the popular sci-fi sitcom Red Dwarf, the Log is an unofficial companion book consisting of a humorous overview of human history by Charles with just enough allusions to Red Dwarf to get the book to sell without stirring up the BBC's lawyers. 'A definitive chronicle of the human race, comprising a retrospective and comparative look at mankind's triumphs and follies throughout the ages. Honest.' Craig Charles is probably best known for his role in the comedy series Red Dwarf, in which he plays the curry-guzzling, beer-swilling, last example of human life in the Universe. He also presents the long-running programme Robot Wars. But as well as all that, he also writes books, and poetry. Subtitled ‘A Dwarfer’s Guide to Everything’, THE LOG is certainly not the best book in the world. It’s not the worst by a long way, but it’s not the best. Having said ...  Read the complete review
