Advantages: Better selection than in the first book.

Disadvantages: Still some duffers!

Released in 2005, 'Logo Lounge 2' is the second in the popular series of design books.

Logo's are one of the most important facets of a businesses identity, and as such there have been a variety of unusual and extremely creative designs which multinational companies have used as their 'corporate face'.

This time around, the book sports a striking orange and black cover, which makes it look more appealing than the first edition.

Once again compiled by Catharine Fishel and Bill Gardner, 'Logo Lounge 2' contains 2,000 logo's from a range of companies, presented in a beautifully arranged page layout.

As is the case in the first Logo Lounge, the designs are categorised into sections - for example 'Nature Logo's', 'Sports Logo's', and 'People Logo's'. This makes finding particular designs easy, and the text which accompanies each logo displays both the client and designers name.

I actually think that many of the logo's featured in this second book represent a better selection than those displayed in the first. However, once again, some of the logo's are taken from a range of smaller firms which i've never heard of, for example 'Napier Hill' and 'One Good Turn'. As such, many logo's aren't that impressive and look a bit like the sort of 'clip art' which is available in Microsoft Word. That said, even these poorer designs can help show you what not to create!

Fitting easily into a bag, and therefore easily transportable, the book has a retail price of £12.99 - which is very reasonable considering the range of logo's which the guide features. If you're willing to shop around, you'll be able to find the book cheaper - £9.09 from Amazon, and perhaps even less on eBay.

If you're a designer then give this book a go - it should give your brain a kick start when you're designing. Highly Recommended.

Summary: Excellent collection of Logos
