I bought this phrase book from WHSmiths for £4.99, although it is now only £3.50 on amazon. The phrase book is by the same people who write the Lonely Planet guides and it is up to the same accurate standards. At the beginning there is a list of essential phrases and words including numbers, yes, no, please, thanks etc. The book is split into different sections and very easy to follow.It also contains useful tips, such as Chinese traditions or customs which adds a bit of interest when learning the phrases. The first chapter gives a bit of history and descibes in detail the pronounciation needed to correctl pronounce the Mandarin ...  Read the complete review
