The long road home is another of danielle steels books that is sure to tug at your heart strings and is a story that will stay with you forever. This book is about a little girl called gabriella who is abused and beaten by her mother and although the father does not join in he knows this is happening and does nothing to help this poor little girl. This book is written that well you can almost feel the fear in the little girls heart as you read the book. The Long Road Home is a great book. It is one of the first Danielle Steel novels I read. It touched me deeply, and has not been easily forgotten. The Long Road Home is the story of a young girl who is abused by her mother, while her father knows about it, but does not intervene. Reading this book gives you a better understanding of how a child being abused feels. As you read you can almost feel the little girls pain. When the girl gets a little older, her father leaves and remarries. A few years later her mother decided to go off with her new boyfriend. So the mother takes the girl to a catholic orphanage. This was the first book of her's I'd ever read and I only read the first page and I was hooked - I couldn't put it down. I don't think that I have ever read such an heart breaking story I felt her pain and happyness and the terror it was as though it was me.On many occasions I had to put the book down as it upset me that much but I couldn't leave it alone.It was from reading that book that I got intrested in the rest as I always looked at her books as romantic junk but after reading this one i've become a true fan.
