Lord of the books! (The Lord of the Rings - J.R.R. Tolkien)

Advantages: good read Disadvantages: long
Perhaps The Lord of the Rings is immortal, and it wouldn't surprise me if it is still read by people in a thousand years time. The greatest thing I find about this book is the way Tolkien defies logic and etiquette, he invents his own language and rules, and the book is all the better for it. To read a book like this in modern times is like to an escape to another world, away from modern trouble and issues. It mentions not once objects that we know of, and to extinguish slang and sarcasm means this novel rises above the rest. As time moves on, these problems will grow and therefore the story of Frodo and the Ring will never be surpassed. To marry this factor to the greatest and deepest storyline conceived since records began is to create a book from a literary master which is the closest fiction yet seen on Earth to perfection.
